If you think you need to start running to work off all your trips to food truck meet-ups, here’s the perfect way to take action: combine running with truck chasing — and a bit of problem solving — at the The Amazing Gourmet Food Truck Race.
The folks at the Los Angeles Race Fantastique — otherwise identified by the Internet-acronym sounding LARF — are expanding the success of their current races by including the ever expanding trend of gourmet food served curbside.
The event takes place on Saturday, June 25 from 11 AM to 5 PM.
In this race, contestants are invited to “eat their way around Los Angeles in the most unique scavenger hunt ever.”
In a description on the registration page for the event, LARF reports that “each player will experience 7 of LA’s hottest trucks; dozens of samples; tons of of devious, mind-bending puzzles; and one awesome race.”
The trucks featured in the race are sure to draw some interest. Scheduled to appear are The Boba Truck, Border Grill, Coolhaus, Komodo, Lardon, NaanStop, and the ever popular Nom Nom Truck. Hopefully racers will get some sort of pass so they can skip the line!
Tickets are priced at $59.99 plus fees but for today only (Friday, June 10) the organizers are offering a discount of $10 off when purchasers use the code “onsale” at checkout.
I had a great time doing the Amazing LA Race in March 2010. I can only imagine what puzzles LARF will come up with to mix the trucks and the truck locations into the game. I’m sure of this, though: Scavenger Hunt + Downtown LA + Food Trucks = Good Time!
