For dinner tonight, Nicole and I decided to order carry out from Good Stuff, one of my favorite places in El Segundo.  I wasn’t too hungry, having had a big lunch earlier in the day.  I also had left overs at home from dinner the night before at Second City Bistro.  So I called in an order for a fried chicken salad and we headed over to pick it up.

We pulled up outside and Nicole ran in to pick up the order.  Much to my surprise, Nicole came back with more than the salad.  She’s a big fan of the loaded baked potato (LBP) soup over at The Corner Bakery in Manhattan Village.  When she went in to get the salad, she found out that Good Stuff had LBP soup on their menu too so she picked up a bowl for us to share.

Back at home she prepped her salad while I warmed up my left over lamb burger.   We both sampled the soup and were immediately pleased with it.  I must admit, I’ve never been disappointed by a dish from Good Stuff and their loaded baked potato soup was no exception.  It’s a very nice blend of everything you’d like on a baked potato…only in a soup.  Sour cream, onions, and cheddar cheese were all there.  Thick and creamy, the texture was almost more like a chowder than it was a soup.

I was glad that we had deviated from the plan slightly and gotten the soup.  It complimented my lamb burger nicely!  It also gives me a great excuse to do a head-to-head taste test with Corner Bakery’s LBP soup.  Look for that one soon.  Whoever comes out on top in that contest, Good Stuff will always have a place in my heart.  Besides, I love their slogan: “This place only makes Good Stuff”.  Too True!
