After months of anticipation, The Habit Burger Grill has opened in El Segundo at the corner of Sepulveda Blvd and Grand Ave. The line was literally out the door as hundreds of hungry folks on lunch break streamed out of the neighboring businesses.

The place was packed but the army of cooks, cashiers, and managers behind the counter kept the line moving at a reasonable speed. No one was complaining; everyone was excited to sample or reacquaint themselves with The Habit’s burgers, fries, and shakes.

Keeping things simple, I opted for their signature Charburger and a coffee shake.

“No fries?”, the cashier asked me. Nope. I’m watching my figure. Well, I really wanted onion rings but had decided against them both before coming. I was more interested in the shakes.

I did upgrade my burger, though, with a slice of cheese that put me back fifty cents. In all the tab came to just about $7; not bad at all for the quality of the burger and shake.

In my opinion, that’s what makes The Habit such a draw for diners looking for a reasonably priced, high quality burger meal during lunch time. The Habit hits that sweet spot of price and quality between McDonalds on one end and The Counter on the other; both of which are just a few blocks down the street, by the way.

The draw for me, though, was the shake. I had been craving a frosty, creamy, thick milkshake for weeks and The Habit’s coffee shake delivered.

For folks looking for something other than a burger meal, The Habit has plenty of options. Along with their name sake dish, they offer grilled sandwiches with chicken, tri-tip, and even albacore. They also have salads and veggie burger if you feel like going green.  For the kids, check out the ice cream cones for just 95 cents.

With a loyal following, great prices, and something on the menu for just about everyone, I’m sure The Habit will have a line out of the door for many more lunches to come.
