haiti

There’s so much other news I wanted to share with you today but I would be very much out of order If I didn’t recognize the needs of our brothers and sisters suffering in Haiti right now.

I can’t imagine having my life, family, or community taken or changed so devastatingly in just an instant.  Living here in LA, though, I know something similar could happen on any given day.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by this terrible disaster.  I’m also saying a prayer to the folks that are on their way to Haiti now to help.  God speed to them as well.

For those of us that are concerned but don’t know what to do, we are not helpless!  We can give our attention and treasures to the organizations that are already taking action to lend a hand to the people of Haiti.  I’m emphasizing the people here.  When I see images of the people — kids especially — homeless and with nothing except their lives and the clothes on their backs, it saddens me.

Here are some organizations that are poised to help or are already in and could use your donations.  Links go directly to donation pages.  Some donation options are as easy as picking up your cell phone.

Most of them are geared towards supporting children.  Like I said, I think of the kids in situations like this.  I guess its the parent in me.
