Over the past few years, food-focused reality competitions have become more popular than ever.  Top Chef, Chopped, and The Next Food Network Star are just a few of the shows that have people coming back each week to see who will rise above the competition and make it to the next round.

Well, food blogging is about to enter that arena.  Welcome to Project Food Blog!

A Little Bit About Foodbuzz
Let me take a break here to give a shout out to Foodbuzz.  If you don’t know them, I’m more than happy to tell you that they are the “#1 Online Food Property” as of August 2010, surpassing FoodNetwork.com and AllRecipies.com. Simply put: They’re hot!

As a Foodbuzz Featured Publisher, I’m part of their network of more than 4000 bloggers that share an interest in documenting food, recipes, and dining with pictures, videos, and stories.  I like to call it Facebook for Foodies!

Working with Foodbuzz, I’ve had the opportunity to meet dozens of great people in the food business; attend amazing events like the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival; and sample new and innovative products through their Tastemakers program.

And now with their sponsorship of the Project Food Blog contest, Foodbuzz is giving me the chance to take my passion to the next level.

Winner Takes All!
So folks are asking me “What will you get if you win!?”.  More on that in a moment.

If you know even a fraction of the folks in this competition, you know that competition is fierce!  Among the 1800+ bloggers participating, there are some very accomplished, well written, professional-photographer-skill-having bloggers working hard to take home the prize.

So the question really is “Why do I think I have what it takes to be the next Food Blog Star!?”.  Its simple:  I’m a food blogger’s food blogger.

There are plenty of different types out there when it comes to food blogging.  Just to mention a few, there are the cook at home chefs that come up with their own recipes; foodies that eat out all the time at restaurants or gourmet food trucks; and vinophiles and bacchanals that love nothing more than to drink, party, and then drink some more.

Thankfully, I’m all of these and more.

Call me to come up with a recipe and then cook it for a crowd? I’ll be there.  Need some info on the latest dining trends? I got it.  Ready for a happy hour, wine tasting, or beer festival? So am I!

Along with being a capable and versatile blogger, I’m also a trusted resource for my readers.  I love my neighborhood and the dining options around me.  Knowing that my area — The South Bay of Los Angeles — is often overlooked when it comes to food in LA, I started blogging as a mission to bring our sushi shops, burger stands, and fine dining to everyone’s attention.  I’m confident that I’m doing a great job.

The Bottom Line
Now back to that prize.  The winner of Project Food Blog — or the Next Food Blog Star, if you’d like — takes home a purse of $10,000 along with an assignment to do a weekly column on Foodbuzz.com for a year.

I’m thrilled to enter this contest for the prize (yes!) but even more so for the opportunity to compete with the best bloggers in the business.  Seeing their work is what makes me do better every day.  I hope they’re ready to learn a thing or two from me as well!
