The first weekend of Fall is here and it feels like summer in Southern California.  Of course, I’m not complaining!
This weekend is jam packed with things going on around the South Bay and all over LA.  Read this sampling of events and try not triple-book yourself.

Redondo Beach Lobster Festival

The only lobster fest in the Beach Cities (big ups, San Pedro!) is going on all weekend.  The event starts on Friday with 1/2 off admission and runs all weekend long.  New this year are surf ‘n’ turf plates with Angus steaks.  Hopefully the lobsters won’t be upset…they still get top billing!  Read more in our previous write up.

Hustler Casino Summer Fun, Gardena

Like I said, Fall is here but the folks at Hustler want to keep the summer going too!  Check out their summer celebration featuring a poker tournament, BBQ, and a bikini contest.  Follow the link for more info; hopefully your proxy will let you browse gambling related web sites…mine didn’t! 😀

Septemberfest, Culver City

America’s answer to Oktoberfest!  Celebrating beer, BBQ, and rock-n-roll; you know, all the things that make America the great place to live that it is.  More than 200 beers will be available to sample with unlimited tastings.  So pick a favorite and stick to it or try them all (yikes!).  $50 gets you in the door and your beer but doesn’t include food.
Tickets MUST be purchased in advance.  Use the password “thrillist” for 20% off at DrinkEatPlay.com. (thanks for the code, Thrillist!)

LA Craft Beer Crawl, Downtown LA

LA’s first ever pub crawl focusing on craft brews in scenic Downtown LA.  A portion of the proceeds go to Heal the Bay — they’re working hard right here in our hood to keep the beaches clean.  General Admission ($49) and Designated Driver ($10) tickets are available. Attendees will have well over 50 craft beers to sample across seven different bars and restaurants all within close proximity in Downtown Los Angeles.

American Wine & Food Festival, Universal City

Along with the wine and food, unlimited samples of entertainment are included in your admission. (photo credit: Alex Berliner © Berliner Studio/BRImages)

Drop $300 on this ticket and there’s NO WAY you’re going to have a scheduling conflict.  Most foodies regard this as the “one to rule them all” of wine and food festivals.  The event features  the best wines, top chefs, and its all brought together by Wolfgang Puck.  Proceeds benefit Meals on Wheels of Los Angeles.  Read more in our previous write up.

Even More!

If you haven’t filled you calendar up yet, here are a few more events to consider.  Raise awareness for AIDS research while enjoying goodies and a concert; restock your closet at the RMAG Parking Lot Fashion Sale; or get your glow sticks out and enjoy some light-bright art displays in Santa Monica.

Viewers enjoy the lights of an exhibit at the all night long "Glow" exhibit in Santa Monica.
