I’ll try to skip seasonal word play and sink my teeth right into the pumpkin flesh of the matter. Its Halloween!
As with any other howl-iday, there are more events going on in the South Bay than you can poke with a skeleton bone.
What ever you find yourself sinking into, have a good time and play it safe! We’d hate to see you go batty! 😀
Halloween 2010 by South Bay Events
I love the folks over at South Bay Events. They do an awesome job of keeping the locals up to date on everything going on around our island from live music to sports and of course parties and events.
I’m not even gonna try to duplicate their efforts in compiling Halloween events! They have a list with parties all along the coast from north to south.
Just to highlight, their list includes events from some of my favorite bars including Sharkeez “Halloween Strikes at Midnight” preparty on Saturday and the huge costume bash at Crowne Plaza on the same night.
Check out their list and see if you can successfully avoid double booking yourself!

Samba’s Brazillain Halloween
Oddly enough, here is one party that South Bay Events didn’t list! Proclaiming to be “the biggest Halloween party in the South Bay”, Samba’s party may be worth checking out.
On Saturday, October 30th, Samba’s waterfront location will be costume-party central with two rooms featuring different styles of music and drink specials all night. Samba dancers will be on hand to show you how to move it!

(Sadly, their website is out of date and dosen’t include this event. Details were sent to Samba subscribers via email. Call for more info! 310-374-3411)
Long Beach Comic Con
If there’s one place that costumed freaks and geeked out nerds can find solace among their own kind, its a comic book festival.
Add a dose of Halloween festivities and the results might become explosive. If you dare, take you chances at Long Beach’s Comic Con (LBCC) all weekend long!
Starting on Friday, LBCC invites everyone to “a gathering of professionals, fans, artists, and celebrities to enjoy all aspects of comic books and pop culture”. I can only imagine the costumes!

West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval
This is the mother of all Southern California Halloween events!
Trust me, if you have never been, you owe it to yourself to see the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval at least once in your lifetime.
Yes, the traffic sucks, the parking sucks — you WILL get a ticket if you park in the residential areas surrounding the event — but the spectacle is like nothing the average human being has ever seen.
Amazingly detailed and authentic costumes, raucous humor, and live entertainment are all par for the course. Thousands of people attend each year so yeah, prepare for crowds too.
The only warning I will give (other than the parking ticket) is that this event is geared towards adults. Yes, its a free street festival and open to the public, but many of the costumes are racy, sexually suggestive, or down right outrageous. Consider it “Rated M for Mature”!
Take the kids trick-or-treating, then leave them at home with a sitter and treat yourself! Make sure you check their website for maps, street closures, and event schedules.
