This week’s food truck is Fishlips Sushi.  I recently made a quick visit to their mobile sushi shop during lunch in El Segundo.

I’ve been looking forward to checking in with Fishlips Sushi ever since December of 2009 when they were recommended to me by Eric of Lomo Arigato.  So you can imagine my surprise when I came across their truck parked in my work-day neighborhood of El Segundo.

I was rushing from one meeting to another and didn’t have time to really dive into their menu like I wanted to.  I was impressed with the selection of rolls, lunch sets, and even some hot dishes.  I wanted to do several rolls but opted for the standard California roll and a green tea.

The California roll was impressive.  The rice — which in my opinion can make or brake a roll — was tender and well flavored.  The sesame seeds added a nice nuttiness.  The filling was not too dry or too moist but hit a nice mark of firmness.  This was clearly not supermarket roll that had been sitting around for hours!

Even if it was just to get a California roll, I was glad to visit with the folks from Fishlips and look forward to checking them out again soon.

Sooner than I thought!  Fishlips Sushi will be part of the Food and Wheels truck stop this Saturday, March 12, at the Costco Business Center on Prairie Ave in Hawthorne.  Follow this link for details!
