You can have just about anything delivered by mail these days: flowers, chocolates, and much more. But meat?

I’ve always been curious about having meat delivered by mail. When I was approached by Robinson’s Prime Reserve to do a complimentary test of their Sam Adams Cut, saying I was excited would be an understatement. Not only would I have an opportunity to have some steaks delivered to my door, but they would be prime cuts of beef made specifically to be paired with Sam Adams beer.

This signature cut of beef was designed by Jake Dickson, owner of the renowned, NYC-based artisanal butcher shop Dickson’s Farmstand Meats, to be the ultimate pairing for Samuel Adams Boston Lager. The caramelized flavors of grilled steak play off the sweet maltiness of the lager, while the beer’s spicy, citrusy hops cleanse the palate for the next bite.

After placing the order and a couple days of waiting, my order arrived. It was kind of funny coming home to a box that was like any other package, knowing that it contained six steaks, frozen and vacuum sealed.

In the video below, I share with you the contents of the box, including the secrets of how they keep the steaks cold for days at a time during transit.

If you’re interested in the Sam Adams cut, but still aren’t ready to order them by mail, you might also be able to find the cut at your local Albertsons grocery store. Ask for more details in the meat department.

In the mean time, join me in the video below to find out “what’s in the box”!
