I’ve been missing the food from the Slummin’ Gourmet and since they rarely come to the South Bay, I had to trek out to NoHo. The NoHo team coordinates a fine event. They operate on a private parking lot and usually have a live band to provide the entertainment. Tonight, they had two local bands performing and everyone seemed to have enjoyed the music.
I had Slummin’s special of the day – grilled salmon tacos with a red Thai curry sauce. It was topped with mint cucumber slaw and chopped peanuts. Flavors worked very well, but it was very difficult holding the taco w/o the insides falling out. The Cali Diver scallop slider was amazing. It was moist and grilled to perfection.
I topped everything off with their famous banana bread pudding. What is unique about their pudding is that it has a nice crisp outside and it’s topped with vanilla ice cream and surrounded by slices of caramelized bananas. Wow!

Have you tried the Slummin Gourmet? Is there anything on their menu you’d like to go slummin with? Let us know in the comments!
