Long considered to ignite the flames of passion, oysters and champagne are staples on aphrodisiac inspired menus.
To test the libidinous qualities of soft, silky oysters and crisp, bubbly champagne, Bluewater Grill is bringing back their popular “Foods of Love” tasting event just in time for Valentine’s Day.
For $30/person, couples can mix the aphrodisiacal qualities of sustainably harvested oysters with the giggle-inspiring aspects of sparkling wine. *
The oysters on the menu include…
- Endless Summer Oysters, harvested from the Baja California’s Sea of Cortez
- Baynes Sound Oysters from British Columbia
- and Hood Canal Oysters from Washington state.
The champagnes for this event – actually, sparkling wines made in the champagne style, if you’re being all wine-snobby – are Domain Ste. Michelle Brut and Mionetto Prosecco Italian.
Knowing the inhibition-lowering qualities of champagne, we wondered what the big deal was with oysters and getting freaky, other than their appearance and texture.
Turns out that oysters have tremendous nutritional value, packing plenty of minerals including zinc, iron, and potassium among others [1]. They’re also low in calories – only 57 calories per 6 oysters – so you can slurp them without guilt [2].
But to get the boost and benefit from all that oyster goodness, there is a catch: you have to eat them raw!
If you’re considering this deal there’s one more element you can add to increase your chances for seduction. Bluewater Grill is inviting guests to add 30 grams of Alverta White Sturgeon Caviar to their order, along with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne. Just add $200 to the tab. Now that might set your sweetie’s heart fluttering.
Call ahead for reservations, particularly if you’re having the caviar. Calling at least two days in advance is recommended.
