Cinco de Mayo is recognized around the world as a day to celebrate Mexican heritage.  Southern Californians recognize it as another day to hit the bars!

Karina Smirnoff – from Dancing with the Stars, not from the vodka – will host a Cinco de Mayo fiesta at Tacos & Tequila inside Morongo Casino, Resort and Spa on Sunday, May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. The party will feature food and drink specials along with a “Win A Million Pesos” contest. Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar Digs up Mexican Inspired Cocktails Drinks, Torrance

The chefs at Lazy Dog are in fiesta mode and it shows on the the cocktail menu.  This month they’ll be featuring the Watermelon Tequila Fresca: Jose Cuervo, Watermelon Agua fresca, Organic Agave Nectar, Housemade Sweet & Sour and a Red Chili & Black Sea Salt ($7.50).  Beer drinkers might opt for a  Victoria Draft Beer (Mexico’s oldest beer brand, a Vienna-style) or the simple and totally So-Cal Corona & Lime ($4.95).  Available at all Lazy Dog locations.
