Even if football fans are rivals, there’s one thing opposing teams can agree on: an ice cold beer and a burger pair nicely with watching the big game.  The NFL Happy Hour at Islands might just be the perfect meeting place for football, food, and beverages.

The South Bay Foodies were recently invited* to get a closer look at Islands NFL happy Hour at the Redondo Beach location.  There we found some old favorites and some new additions to the menu.

Fine food and drinks aside, the best part of the NFL Happy Hour at Islands is the price: everything is priced around $5.

Big on Beer

Islands has always been big on beer.  Along with national brands, they keep local beers on tap as well as their three signature craft brews on tap:  Golden Ale, IPA, and Brown Ale.

Beers come in two sizes: big and bigger. Here's a 25 ounce mug of the Brown Ale.

Domestic beers are $2.95/16 oz during happy hour and the Islands Craft Beers is $3.95/16 oz.  For $2 more, you can upgrade to the  25 oz serving, which might  be enough ale to last the whole game.

Happy Hour Cocktails Too…

Along with the beer, other ice cold beverages are available.  Cocktails like the Big Island Iced Tea (a South Bay Foodies Favorite!) and the Strawberry Margarita are available for just $$4.25.

A new additon to the cocktail lineup is the Makaha Maggie.  Made with house infused pineapple tequila, Maggie is a true beauty.  The special touch is the pineapple tequila.  The pineapple is grilled and then steeped in tequila for three days.  When mixed with the rest of the ingredients (Grand Marnier, fresh citrus, crushed pineapple, agave) and served in with a cinnamon sugar rimmed glass, the result is like a pineapple upside down cake in a glass.

The tequila for the Makaha Maggie is made with pineapples that have been grilled and then steeped in the liquor for three days.

The Makaha Maggie bucks the $5 happy hour pricing by a dollar.  Priced at $5.95 its well worth the $0.95 splurge!

League Approved Appetizers and Food

You can argue if your team has the better offense but you’ll be in agreement over the appetizers.  Also priced under $5, Islands includes their classics like Spinach & Artichoke Dip ($4.95), Quesadillas ($2.95, add chicken for $2 more), and finger foods like fries ($1.95) and chips & salsa ($1).

Sliders for the whole team!
Sliders for the whole team! $3.95 for a plate of four. Add cheese for $1.09 and still come in around $5

Priced just a bit more are the Buffalo Wings ($7.05) which can be ordered in a traditional spicy sauce, teriyaki, or BBQ.  Served with carrots , celery , and ranch dressing.

Happy Hour for Monday Night and Every Other Night
