Ragin Cajun Cafe
Ragin Cajun Cafe

While the Ragin Cajun returned as Suzy’s Ragin Cajun in Hermosa Beach, the new Redondo Beach location brings back the complete Ragin Cajun food experience from their original restaurant.

A complete remake of Chaba Thai Bistro was performed and the result is a colorful and bright new interior with antiques from South Louisiana. There’s even a signed football helmet from the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.

At a soft opening for friends and family, Co-owner and partner, Stephen Dominigue was on-hand to personally greet everyone. He served sliced french bread and his famous sausage corn bisque as a complimentary appetizer.

The menu is significantly larger than Suzy’s Ragin Cajun and even what I remember from the original Hermosa Beach location. Popular items such as po boys, gumbolaya and bayou bowls continue to be offered. Seafood items such as soft shell crab and vegan options are new additions to the menu.

They have branded their bar as “Moonshine Bar” and now feature American moonshine, whiskey and bourbon. A mix of popular craft cocktails are now available; some have a Cajun twist applied. They will soon offer flights of Moonshine.

Friday, July 25 is their Grand Opening. From this Friday through Sunday, they will offer grand opening specials such as crawfish boil, soft shell crab cakes and a strawberry moon craft cocktail.

The music was classic Ragin Cajun accordion music; the interior was inviting and the food was better than I remembered it to be.

  1. I’m sorry did someone say, “sausage corn bisque”?? 🙂
Although I miss the South Bay terribly, I’m very thankful to be living in the heartland of all of this magnificent food, New Orleans 🙂
