National Donut Day is one of those “food holidays” where fans go overboard on the grub that they love.  In this case, it’s a hand-sized, round cake with a hole in the middle.

Yes, the donut.

If you’re looking to get your fix today (or any other day of the year), check out these South Bay locations that do donuts in a major way.

A larger than life donut sits on top of Donut King II, located at the corner of Western and Marine in Gardena.

Donut King II; Gardena

Don’t think you have to drive all the way up to Randy’s Donuts in Inglewood to see a donut that’s larger than life!  Donut King 2 in Gardena features the signature 30-feet-high, roof-top pastry that identified locations of the Big Donut drive-ins.  Prices are exceptional and they also serve iced coffees and milk teas.

Torrance Bakery; Torrance, Gardena

Along with cookies, sandwiches, and wedding cakes, donuts make up a big part of the business for this South Bay icon.  Along with all kinds of donuts, they also serve cronuts, the hapa child of a croissant and a donut.  You can read more about their cronuts here.

Lucky’s Donuts; El Segundo

Like many of the hundreds of mom & pop donut shops around the South Bay, Lucky’s has great prices, good service, and the coffee is always hot.  They’re open 24 hours and right next to LAX.  Plus, it’s the ONLY place I go for cake donuts to use in my Cake Donut Bread Pudding recipe.

    1. Sure! There are a couple other shops I could mention as well. Donut Den on PCH is another great spot. And I miss the baked donut spot that used to be where Jus Poke is located now.
