The South Bay and surrounding areas have some great celebrations for Independence Day!  Here’s our annual list of celebrations and fireworks shows from North to South.  Enjoy!

Marina Del Rey

Celebrate the 4th of July in Marina Del Rey with a spectacular fireworks show over the water! Fireworks are shot from a barge across the Marina’s main channel, lighting up the night sky and water below. The show begins at 9 PM and lasts approximately 20 minutes. El Segundo

El Segundo Recreation and Parks Department proudly presents a Fourth of July community celebration fireworks celebration at Recreation Park.  Daytime events are from 10 AM to 3 PM; night time events start at 5 PM and wrap up at 9 PM.  Fireworks start at 9 PM!  El Segundo residents can pick up wristbands for free admission to the night time events.  The rest of us will have to spring $5 for a seat on the field of the grandstand.  Kids under 2 get in free!

Gardena

The city of Gardena will celebrate with fireworks and food trucks starting at 4 PM at Rowley Park, 13220 S. Van Ness Ave. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for the show.  Fireworks begin at dusk. Call 310-217-9537 for more information.

Redondo Beach – Seaside Lagoon

Seaside Lagoon is ground zero for the Redondo Beach Independence Day Celebration. All day long the water park will feature food, games, and entertainment for all ages. In the evnening, the fireworks show will feature stirring patriotic music and a wide variety of fireworks perfectly matched and timed to the music. This show is one of the premiere fireworks displays in Southern California and is visible from the beaches and surrounding communities.

Redondo Beach – Redondo Pier

Independence Day weekend is the kick off for the South Bay’s biggest free summer concert series.  Summer of Music features bands on every Thursday and Saturday starting on Thursday, July 2 through Saturday, September 5.   The Saturday 7/4 concerts wrap up just in time for a spectacular sunset and the fireworks show!  Here’s the concert line up and a link for details:

Torrance

There won’t be a fireworks display for the city (hasn’t been since 2011!) but the Briles family of Torrance will once again have its privately funded fireworks show off the coast of Torrance Beach. Jackie Briles covers the cost of the show in honor of her late husband. The pyrotechnics will begin between 9 and 9:15 PM.

Palos Verdes

PV always puts on a fun Indepence Day celebration with an apple pie eating contest and more.  The party starts early enough (9:30 AM!) for you to enjoy this party and still make other ones around town.  Visit the site from complete details.

Carson

The city’s Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration runs from 6 – 10 PM at the StubHub Center.  Food, vendors, a kiddie carnival, nonstop entertainment and raffle prizes round out the entertainment. Continuous shuttle service will be offered from the Juanita Millender McDonald Carson Community Center, 801 E. Carson St. Admission is free! Visit the city website for more information.
