It seems to me that lobster festivals are mostly “cookie cutter”. Stand in line, get a boiled lobster and a corn on the cob, find a seat and dig in. Walk around to visit the booths, maybe buy a lobster figurine and head on home. Fun? Maybe for the first time.

I’m thrilled to see that this year’s Redondo Beach Lobster Festival is changing that perception. This year, they are partnering with some South Bay businesses and making this a truly unique event. Popular restaurants like FISHBAR and Kincaid’s have been included in the line-up. Local breweries El Segundo Brewing and The Strand Brewing Co will serve their crowd-pleasing craft brews.

Chef Jessica Jordan of FISHBAR Manhattan Beach has inspired this year’s FISHBAR Lobster Bistro. Jordan will feature small plates of lobster guacamole and chips, lobster rolls, lobster tacos, lobster corn chowder, and her famous lobster mac and cheese.

Individuals looking for heartier offerings will appreciate FISHBAR’s certified Angus New York Strip Steak and can upgrade to Surf and Turf by adding a lobster tail.

Kincaid’s will feature a New England-style Lobster Boil: a three-course, hands-on experience for parties up to 10 people.  The Lobster Boil starts with shrimp cocktail, warm artichoke with dipping sauces, and crusty bread. Fresh Maine lobster follows with corn on the cob, garlic and potato, and Cajun sausage all spread New England style in the middle of the table. Kincaid’s Key Lime Pie rounds out the meal for dessert.  Access to the VIP skybox, overlooking the stage, is included, and private bar and VIP beverages will be available.

Festivalgoers will be able to pair their meals with fine wines, and craft beers from national and local breweries such as The Strand Brewing Co and El Segundo Brewing Co. Entertainment by Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach and a top flight line up of music kicks off Friday night with Doors guitarist Robby Krieger plus special guests.
