LA’s Fall Restaurant Week Half Time Report
The Fall 2009 edition of Dine LA’s Restaurant Week is just a little bit past half way over. The second 6-day strech ends this Friday, October 16. At this point, I realized I was well overdue for some analysis of what’s available in our area along with who has come and gone.

Right now, a friend of the South Bay Foodies is running (figuratively and literally!) for a gig with Nature Made, the company the produces SAM-e vitamins. This was a tough battle from beginning to end. For many of the contestants and judges, kohlrabi was an ingredient that was unfamiliar at best. In the end, the creations that were presented for judging left the officials in a quandry as to which one should reign supreme.

I’ve always been a fan of Iron Chef. It’s one of those shows that exposes the art and passion that goes into the craft of creating really good food. I always wondered what it would be like to take the stage in Kitchen Stadium, face my opponent, discover the secret ingredient, and hear the chairman yell “Allez cuisine!”.
That day has finally come. Well, sort of.
